Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to create change!
This week we made a HUGE breakthrough!
We were invited to talk to 300+ grade 7 kids in Kayamandi Primary School and we kept the boys in the class.
We strongly believe that taboos are created the minute we separate boys and girls in schools when we talk about menstrual health. By removing the boys from the class, we are indirectly telling them that ‘periods’ are something they don’t need to worry about and we are telling the young girls it is something they need to be ashamed of. If we encourage an attitude of embarrassment and discretion from the outset then this permeates through into general society. We are on a mission to change this.
It was extremely well received from both the boys and girls. Lots and lots of questions and inquisitive minds. Such a fun and engaging morning of education. The future is bright!
Big thank you to Kayamandi Primary school for being open to change and seeing the importance of menstrual health education for all!
