Set to change lives in Zimbabwe.

In a significant stride toward addressing menstrual health challenges in Zimbabwe, Lady Talk Matters, has recently expanded its reach to Zimbabwe. Spearheaded by Sandra Machinja our Head of Production in South Africa, the initiative has employed and trained three local women to manufacture reusable period pads. These eco-friendly pads will be donated to young girls in schools across Zimbabwe, along with vital menstrual health education.

The move comes as part of Lady Talk Matters’ ongoing efforts to promote menstrual hygiene, reduce period poverty, and empower girls and women with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their menstrual health effectively.

Lady Talk Matters is well-known for their impactful work across Africa, and remain committed to destigmatizing menstruation and ensuring that girls and women have access to safe and sustainable menstrual products. This new branch in Zimbabwe is set to make a significant difference in the lives of young girls who often face limited access to proper menstrual hygiene resources.

The three newly employed women in Zimbabwe have undergone comprehensive training to manufacture reusable period pads. These pads are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, as they can be washed and reused for an extended period. The production of these pads locally also contributes to the economy and provides employment opportunities for women in the region.

“The launch of our Lady Talk Matters branch in Zimbabwe marks a significant milestone in our journey to empower girls and women across Africa. We believe that by providing reusable period pads and menstrual health education, we can help girls stay in school, improve their confidence, and ensure they have the tools to manage their periods with dignity,” said Sandra Machinja, Head of Production at Lady Talk Matters.

The reusable period pads produced in Zimbabwe will be distributed to schools and communities in need, especially in rural areas where access to menstrual products and proper education is limited. Lady Talk Matters aims to reach as many young girls as possible, ensuring they have access to a safe and sustainable solution for managing their periods.

In addition to providing reusable period pads, Lady Talk Matters will conduct menstrual health education workshops in schools across Zimbabwe. These workshops will educate girls about menstrual hygiene, proper pad use, and the importance of breaking the silence surrounding menstruation.

The launch of Lady Talk Matters in Zimbabwe has already garnered positive responses from local communities, education authorities, and women’s rights organisations. It is seen as a critical step toward empowering young girls and women, ensuring they can manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence.

This expansion of Lady Talk Matters to Zimbabwe reflects our commitment to tackling period poverty and promoting menstrual health and hygiene throughout the continent. With the incredible support of Upside Trust we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of girls and women in Zimbabwe and beyond.
