Supporting Rural Schools in Zimbabwe with Locally Made Period Pads and Empowering Education

In December, Lady Talk Matters expanded its mission to bring sustainable menstrual health solutions to underserved communities by distributing reusable period pads across rural schools in Zimbabwe. This initiative goes beyond providing much-needed products—it creates opportunities for local women through employment in the manufacturing process.

Each pad is made with love and care by a team of dedicated local women, ensuring not only the quality of the product but also a sustainable source of income for those involved. By employing local talent, we strengthen communities while addressing the pressing need for access to period products.

The distributed pads were accompanied by educational sessions tailored to the needs of young learners, equipping them with vital knowledge about menstrual health and hygiene. These sessions empower students to stay in school and participate fully in their education, free from stigma or worry.

“Our goal is to create lasting change, not just for individuals but for entire communities,” said Andrea Turkovic, founder of Lady Talk Matters. “By employing local women and focusing on education, we’re tackling menstrual inequity on multiple fronts.”

This initiative is another step forward in Lady Talk Matters’ mission to create a world where everyone has access to the resources and knowledge they need to manage their health with dignity.
