The Lady Talk Matters Team visits Table Mountain
At Lady Talk Matters, our mission is about more than just period products and education—it’s about dignity, empowerment, and breaking the barriers that keep women from reaching their full potential. This December, our incredible team took that mission literally as we headed to the summit of one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders: Table Mountain.
A Tradition of Choice
Every year, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our team with a year-end Christmas outing. In a spirit of true empowerment, we don’t choose the destination for them; instead, the ladies decide together how they want to celebrate their successes.
This year, the consensus was unanimous. They wanted to stand on top of the “Mother City” and look out over the ocean from the famous plateau of Table Mountain.
Seeing Home Through New Eyes
Many of the women on our team come from underprivileged backgrounds and townships where travel, even within our own city, can feel like a world away. For some, this was their first time ever riding the cable car or standing on the mountain’s summit.
In South Africa, we are surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, yet so many of our citizens are excluded from experiencing it due to socio-economic barriers. At Lady Talk Matters, we believe that exploring your own country is a right, not just a luxury. Seeing the sheer joy and awe on the faces of our team as they looked out over Cape Town was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
More Than Just an Outing
The day was filled with laughter, “summit selfies,” and a deep sense of pride. It was a chance for our team—the backbone of our manufacturing and educational efforts—to rest, reflect, and realize that no height is out of their reach.
As we look toward the New Year, we carry the energy of that mountain breeze with us. We are refreshed, inspired, and ready to continue our work in ending period poverty and restoring dignity to women and girls across the country.
